This site was created by Michael Lottes who runs Lollis Homestay Hostel in Dresden. We are indebted to Michael for building up the site to list 29 of the friendliest hostels in Europe. Since November 2007 the site has been run by Peter Wright of Shropshire, who has stayed in 400 hostels over the world, visited many more, and is dedicated to promoting friendly and sociable hostels. Peter also runs the site UKTrail, which lists over 500 hostels in Great Britain with his personal assessments, digests of published reviews, and a Sociability Index which gives a good measure of how good the hostel is especially for the solo traveller.
