About our hostel... We are an independent backpacker's hostel. Unlike in the hostels of the German Youth Hostel Federation, you don't need a membership card, and we have no curfew or lockout times. Indeed our hostel is more like a private home than a hotel. All permanent residents who live in the house take care of the guest rooms. That way we don't need a permanent reception. It is a rare occasion that there is no one in the house at all. We are mostly students, and we live on the upper floor of the house. There is one washroom with two toilets and two showers on the guest floor. Most rooms cannot be locked. Bring a padlock if you want to use the lockers. The hostel was built around 1770 in the baroque style. Most of the historic interior was removed when the house was remodelled to become a student dorm in 1982. The house is still a work in progress: the residents are renovating the building step by step and trying to recreate some of the original feeling to the house. Many people consider the atmosphere of the house somewhat "alternative". The furniture is all second hand, GDR style. In view of the age of the building and the use of traditional building materials, there will always be a crack in the wall here and there! |

Location... The house is located in the historic center of Weimar. Prices... We operate the hostel as a non-profit organization on a low budget and we ask low prices: a dorm bed is €10 per night; a bed in a double is €12; a single room is €15. Hire of bed sheets: €2.5; you are welcome to bring your own. |
