Cathy and Nick look forward to welcoming you to Phoenix Hostel!

You'll find everything you expect from a modern hostel within our unusual 1850s timber-framed house. You will get a welcome drink, there's free tea and coffee, and breakfast is included. We don't have a TV. Instead we have a small but growing book exchange and we like to talk to each other.

Phoenix is part of an ensemble of listed buildings perfectly situated in the old quarter 'Varosha', just two minutes walk from the buzzing day & night life of the city and convenient for all the interesting sights. Newly renovated and furnished, we are clean and comfortable, safe and secure and you can be sure we'll look after you.

Location...

Phoenix is in "Varosha", the centre of the old town, 100m from the main road, just below the church of Saints Cyril and Methodius (Sveti Kiril & Metodii)

How to get there...

From the train or bus stations in Veliko Tarnovo simply call us and we'll arrange collection, or take a taxi to "Halitey" (you could ask for "Pepys Bar") and we are one minute's walk from there.

From "Mother Bulgaria square" or the Post Office, it's a few minutes' walk. Follow the main street towards the old town. Just after the main road bends to the right take the first left turn into 'Halitey' carpark (look out for Pepys Bar on the corner). From the centre of the carpark take a cobbled street leading uphill to the left (Ulitsa Mednikarska). After 50 meters take the steps on your right and we are in front of you at the top of them. OR (to avoid the steps) take the second left cobbled street (Ulitsa Dragoman) and walk uphill for 70 meters. You will see us by the statue on the right.

Prices...

All beds are 20 leva/€10 per person per night. Pay for 2 nights on arrival and stay for the 3rd free.
