Tyncornel Hostel | Ceredigion, Wales

^^^ About our hostel...

Ty'n Cornel hostel lies high up in the hills at 400 m, by the side of a stony track across the mountains. From either direction there is little sign of the hostel until you round the final bend and spot the building. Its full Welsh name is 'Tyddyn yn y Cornel' which means 'Smallholding in the Corner'.

The hostel is comfortable and has an open fire in the lounge. There is also a small area of grass adjacent to the building where it is possible to camp, and cycles can be kept under cover. Volunteer wardens run it during 9 months of the year, and during the winter you can stay if you book in advance and leave it clean.

Ty'n Cornel is a favourite hostel with those in search of solitude. Walkers can explore the mountain terrain of the Elenydd from outside the front door, while adventurous cyclists have several hilly tracks to choose from. The area is noted for Red Kites, birds of prey. The common room is warm around the log fire and you will get to know everyone staying there -- although you might be on your own!
